How it works
Connect Asana to your Zite app to read and update projects and tasks, create tasks, and mark tasks complete. App visitors don’t need to connect their own Asana accounts—your app uses the account you connect. You connect with Zite’s Asana app (Fillout-owned OAuth, default scope). You don’t create an Asana developer app, paste credentials, or pick granular permissions. By connecting Asana, you can:- Read and update projects in the connected workspace
- Read and update tasks, including assignees
- Create tasks in a project
- Mark tasks complete
- Build custom dashboards and views of Asana projects and tasks
How to integrate Asana into your app

Connect to Asana
Ask Zite to connect your app to Asana in the chat box. Alternatively, click + in the chat box, select Integrations, then choose Asana.Sign in to Asana and authorize the connection. Zite uses the connected account’s permissions to access Asana—there is no separate permission picker in Zite.

Describe your use case
Tell Zite how you want to use Asana in your app. For example, “Show tasks from our Marketing project” or “Let users create tasks in our workspace.”Tell Zite which workspace or project to use. You don’t need to select these in the connection settings. To list tasks, your app needs a project, or an assignee and a workspace.

Test and publish
Test the Asana features in your app to make sure everything works as expected. Once connected, your app can read and update Asana projects and tasks.Click
Publish in the upper right corner to deploy your changes and make the Asana integration available in your live app.Common use cases
With an Asana connection, you can create apps like:- Project Dashboards: Display and filter tasks from one or more Asana projects
- Task Intake: Let users create Asana tasks from your app
- Work Trackers: Show assignments and mark tasks complete
- Team Views: List tasks for an assignee in a workspace
- Workflow Automation: Create or complete Asana tasks based on app events
Important notes
- Account access: Your app acts through the Asana account you connect. It can only view and change projects and tasks that account is allowed to access. Choose who can use your app with those permissions in mind.
- Default access: Connecting grants Zite’s standard Asana access (the default OAuth scope). There is no option to pick granular permissions.
- Workspaces and projects: Zite can save a default workspace when you connect. Tell Zite which workspace and projects your app should use, especially if your account has access to more than one.
- Tasks: To list tasks, your app needs a project, or an assignee and a workspace. Completing a task marks it complete rather than deleting it.
- Connection lifetime: Zite refreshes Asana access tokens automatically. If your app still reports an expired or unauthorized connection, reconnect Asana and try again.
- Asana API: Your app calls Asana’s REST API 1.0 (
https://app.asana.com/api/1.0). You don’t install Asana’s npm package or manage API keys yourself.
