How it works
Airtable is a spreadsheet-style database for organizing records in bases and tables. Connect Airtable to your Zite app to build portals, dashboards, and internal tools on top of your records while keeping the data in Airtable. App visitors don’t need their own Airtable accounts; your app uses the account you connect. By connecting Airtable, you can:- Display records from the tables in your base
- Create new records from forms and actions in your app
- Update existing records
- Add many records at once
- Build custom views of your data for clients, customers, or your team
How to integrate Airtable into your app

Connect to Airtable
Ask Zite to connect your app to Airtable in the chat box. Alternatively, click + in the chat box, select Integrations, then choose Airtable.Sign in to your Airtable account and grant access to the required base, or choose an existing connection. Tell Zite which base the app should use and confirm the selection when prompted.

Describe your use case
Tell Zite how you want to use Airtable in your app. For example, “Build a client portal from our Projects table where each client sees their own projects” or “Add an inventory form that updates stock levels in our Products table.”Zite can see the tables and fields in the base you selected. Tell it which tables to use and what people should be able to view or change.

Test and publish
Test the Airtable features in your app. Make a sample change and check the record in Airtable. For a portal, check which records each user can see.Click Publish in the upper right corner when the workflow works as expected.
Common use cases
With an Airtable connection, you can create apps like:- Client Portals: Let clients view their projects and leave feedback
- Inventory Tools: Track stock and equipment and update quantities from a simple form
- Project Dashboards: Show progress and deadlines across your projects
- CRM Views: Build custom views of contacts or deals for your sales team
- Intake Forms: Collect requests that become new records in your base
Important notes
- One base per app: A Zite app uses one Airtable base. Its workflows use that same base; adding a workflow does not let you select a second Airtable base for the app.
- Missing bases: If a base doesn’t appear, check that your Airtable account has access to it and that you included it when you granted access to Zite.
- Fields your app can’t change: Formula, rollup, lookup, count, autonumber, button, AI, and created or last modified fields can be shown in your app but not edited from it.
- Connection versus import: This connection keeps your records in Airtable. Migrating from Airtable copies data into Zite and is a separate process.
- Usage limits: Busy apps may hit Airtable’s request limits. If updates slow down, ask Zite to reduce repeated reads and group changes where possible.
- Account access: Your app acts through the Airtable account you connect. Choose who can use your app with that account’s access in mind.
