How it works

Salesforce is a CRM for customer accounts, contacts, and sales opportunities. Connect it to build tools around the records your team already uses. App visitors don’t need their own Salesforce accounts; your app uses the account you connect. By connecting Salesforce, you can:
  • Search and display CRM records
  • Create and update records the connected account can change
  • Work with accessible custom record types and fields
  • Build filtered lists and sales dashboards
  • Delete records when the connected account has permission

How to integrate Salesforce into your app

1

Connect to Salesforce

Ask Zite to connect your app to Salesforce in the chat box. Alternatively, click +, select Integrations, then choose Salesforce. For a test organization, select Connect to a sandbox organization before continuing. Sign in to the Salesforce organization you want to use and approve access.
2

Describe your use case

Tell Zite which records and fields your team needs. For example, “Show our open opportunities by stage and let account managers update the next step.”Mention any custom fields and whether users should only view records or also edit them.
3

Test and publish

Test with sample records, preferably in a sandbox, and verify the changes in Salesforce. Check required fields and the permissions of the connected account.Click Publish in the upper-right corner to make the Salesforce features available in your live app.

Common use cases

With a Salesforce connection, you can create apps like:
  • Contact Directories: Find customer contact information.
  • Account Views: Show account details and related records.
  • Sales Dashboards: Review opportunities by stage or owner.
  • Record Editors: Let teammates maintain customer information.

Important notes

  • Zite plan: Salesforce is available on Team and Enterprise plans. Other plans show an upgrade prompt when connecting.
  • Account permissions: Your app acts through the connected Salesforce account. Its record and field permissions still apply, so control who can use your app.
  • Sandbox or live: Check which organization is connected before testing changes. Edits against a live organization affect real Salesforce records.
  • Custom fields: Ask Zite to check the current field list if a newly added field is missing. Read-only fields cannot be edited through the app.
  • Failed updates: Salesforce can reject a change because of required fields, validation rules, or permissions. Check the result of each record change before retrying.
