How it works

Google Gemini is Google’s family of AI models. Connect Gemini with your own key to add text generation and chat features to your business system. App visitors don’t need their own Google accounts; your app uses the key you connect. By connecting Google Gemini, you can:
  • Draft text from details users provide
  • Summarize notes and reports
  • Categorize incoming requests or feedback
  • Build a chat assistant that uses earlier messages you ask Zite to include
  • Show answers as they’re written

How to integrate Google Gemini into your app

1

Connect to Google Gemini

Ask Zite to connect your app to Google Gemini. Alternatively, select + in the chat box, then Integrations → Google Gemini.Create a key in Google AI Studio and enter it in API Key. If you’ve connected before, choose a saved account or Connect new account.
2

Describe your use case

Tell Zite what the app should read and what it should produce. For example, “Summarize each project update into progress, blockers, and next steps.”For a chat assistant, specify which guidelines and earlier messages it should use to answer questions.
3

Test and publish

Try several realistic inputs and check the results. For a chat assistant, test follow-up questions as well as the first answer.Select Publish in the upper-right corner when the feature works as expected.

Common use cases

With a Google Gemini connection, you can create apps like:
  • Project Briefings: Summarize updates and highlight blockers
  • Support Assistants: Draft answers from customer messages and supplied guidance
  • Feedback Organizers: Sort comments into your team’s categories
  • Content Drafters: Prepare descriptions or announcements for review
  • Team Chat Assistants: Answer questions using information your app supplies

Important notes

  • Your own key: New Gemini connections require a key from Google AI Studio. There is no Use Zite’s Account option when adding a new connection.
  • Billing and limits: Usage follows the billing and limits of the Google account connected to your key.
  • Shared connection: Requests from all app visitors use the same connection.
  • Conversation history: Tell Zite what history to include and whether it should be saved between visits. Connecting Gemini alone doesn’t create persistent chat memory.
  • Models: Ask Zite to use a supported Gemini model for the feature. Test again after changing it; this is separate from choosing the AI model that builds your app.
