Branding controls how your app looks in the browser tab and when someone shares the link. You need permission to edit the app to change these settings. In the app editor, open Settings, then select Branding. Title, description, favicon, and thumbnail are available on every plan. Zite branding is removed automatically on paid Zite plans. To reuse colors, fonts, and a logo across apps, see Create a brand kit.

What branding controls

  • Title: Shown in the browser tab and as the title when the app link is shared. The default is your app name followed by Zite, like My app | Zite.
  • Description: The text under the title when the link is shared. Search engines also use this text. The default is a generic Zite description.
  • Favicon: The small icon in the browser tab. It is also the icon when someone saves the app to a phone home screen, unless a separate mobile icon is set. Upload or remove it, and check the preview. The default is the Zite icon.
  • Thumbnail: The image shown when the app link is shared. For public apps, the default may show a screenshot of the app.
These defaults apply only when the app has not already set its own title, description, or icon. Title and Description sit under Metadata. Favicon and Thumbnail sit under Brand assets.

How to set branding

1

Open Branding

In the app editor, click Settings , then select Branding.
2

Set the title and description

Under Metadata, enter a Title and Description. Keep the title short so it fits in a browser tab. Write a description that explains what the app does.
3

Upload brand assets

Under Brand assets, upload a Favicon and a Thumbnail, or remove an existing one. Check the preview before you continue.
4

Save and publish

Click Save, then click Publish in the upper right corner. Changes only go live after you publish. You cannot publish while branding changes are unsaved.
You can also ask Zite to change the title, description, favicon, or thumbnail. To use an image from your computer, upload it in Settings, then save and publish your changes.

Image size tips

The Thumbnail looks best at 1200 x 630 pixels (a 1.91:1 ratio). That size fills the preview when someone shares your app link.
